Profile

Ms. Ma On Ki has a broad civil and criminal advisory and litigation practice, with a strong focus on intellectual property matters.

Prior to joining the Bar, Ms. Ma was an Intellectual Property Examiner of the Intellectual Property Department of the HKSAR Government from 2012 to 2015. She is currently a member of the Committee on Intellectual Property of the Hong Kong Bar Association. She regularly appears for parties in intellectual property cases and advises on all aspects of intellectual property law. Ms. Ma was recognized as a Rising Star in Intellectual Property in The Legal 500 Guide to the Hong Kong Bar in both 2021 and 2022 and has been described as “… punches well above her weight and can be counted on for any IP instruction” (The Legal 500 Guide to the Hong Kong Bar (2021)).

Ms. Ma also has wide experience in other practice areas, including criminal litigation, statutory disciplinary proceedings and general civil practice. For general civil practice, Ms. Ma represented clients for causes of action involving tort, contract, land, commercial, and various company matters, etc. She has also sat as a Deputy Magistrate and has acted as counsel on fiat.

Ms. Ma accepts instructions in all areas of work and is capable of providing written submissions and conducting hearings in both English and Chinese.
